2013 Postdoctoral Positions in Section for Biologics at University of Copenhagen in Denmark

2013 Postdoctoral Positions in Section for Biologics at University of Copenhagen in DenmarkDescription: In the Section for Biologics, we aim at mechanistically understanding the effects of pharmaceutical formulation on stability, biophysical drug characteristics and improved transport of the therapeutically active molecule into and across biological barriers to target sites. The overall aim of “COMPACT” is to reduce delivery and targeting bottlenecks for the development of novel biologics-based medicines, by improving the understanding of cellular uptake mechanisms of biomacromolecular drugs. The three postdoctoral are being employed with the aim of achieving this goal. More specifically, the three postdoc projects comprise: one Postdoctoral Project in nucleic acid formulation design, characterization and detailed assessment in vitro. This will include optimization of SIRNA-containing particulate carriers, cellular uptake and intracellular trafficking of the carrier as well as the drug upon administration to transfected cells. Two postdoc projects in peptide/protein formulation design, characterization, and mechanistic assessment of delivery upon oral administration; specifically with a focus on overcoming the intestinal enzymatic, mucus and epithelial barriers by formulation design. For proper assessment of drug delivery systems, advanced in vitromodels should be established and implemented and properties compared to in vivo results obtained.

Eligibility: The successful applicants will be experimentally oriented scientists who can document original scientific production in the area of formulation and delivery of biologics and/or biological barriers. Applicants with relevant experience in formulation characterization applied to research in membrane transport will be preferred.
