2014 JAXA International Top Young Fellowship in Japan

Japan Aerospace Exploration AgencyApplications are invited for JAXA International Top Young Fellowship (ITYF) available for outstanding and highly motivated early-career researchers. These international fellowships will be awarded in any of the space science fields covered by the Institute of Space and Astronautical Sciences (ISAS) to work in Japan for 3 (extendable to 5) years. Applicants must have a PhD in natural science (by the end of May 2014) or equivalent or higher capabilities and less than 8 years of postdoctoral experience. Selected candidates will be invited for a seminar presentation at ISAS/JAXA in Japan. Value: These international fellowships will include:
-Salary: The monthly salary is 791,000 JPY before tax deduction (equivalent to an annual salary of 94,920 USD at the exchange rate of 100 JPY /USD).
-Note: In order to support the recovery efforts of the Great East Japan Earthquake, a small salary reduction is temporarily applied to all employees of government-oriented agencies. This also applies to the ITYF, and a salary reduction of 6.79% is planned until March 2015. (Due to this reduction, present monthly salary is 737,000 JPY before tax deduction).
Research Fund: 2,500,000 JPY (25,000 USD at the above exchange rate). Including support for travel and research expenses, are prepared per fiscal year. Fellows may also apply for competitive research funds (e.g. JSPS’s Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research).
-Place of appointment: JAXA Sagamihara Campus (ISAS).
-Allowance: Housing and commutation allowances are provided, if fellows meet certain requirements according to JAXA’s rule.
-Working days: Monday-Friday, except Japanese national holidays, year-end and new year (December 29th – January 3rd).
-Paid leave: Annual leave, child-care leave and maternity leave, etc.
-Others: Employment insurance, health insurance, employees’ pension insurance, workers’ compensation insurance will be provided.

Notification: Successful applicants will be announced in Mid-September.

2014 Jiangxi Provincial Government Scholarship in China

Chinese Government Scholarship

Applications are invited for Jiangxi Provincial Government scholarship available for international students. Scholarship is divided into three categories: Type A Scholarship, 25000 RMB for each person per year, studying for doctoral and master degrees; Type B Scholarship, 20000 RMB for each student per year, for bachelor’s degree and Type C Scholarship, 6000 RMB, used to fund visiting scholars or other foreign students who will study in the university for at least half a year. The application deadline is 20 September.

About Scholarship: In order to attract more outstanding international students to come to study in higher education institutions and expand the scale of the international students in Jiangxi Province and enhance Jiangxi’s international reputation, Jiangxi Provincial Government has set up Jiangxi Provincial Government Scholarship for International Students and the quota of the scholarship has already been distributed to each higher education institution including our university.

Study: Scholarships are awarded to learn any of the courses offered by the Nanchang Hangkong University.

Eligibility: Applicants (freshmen) who apply for this Scholarship should have a good academic basis. After the new international students enter Nanchang Hangkong University, the university will organize a math and an English exam to test the applicants’ capability and skills, and the results will be major criteria for determining scholarship awarding and the results of courses you learned in your Secondary School will be referred to.

Scholarship Open for International Students: International students can apply for this -Jiangxi Provincial Government Scholarship.

Value: The Jiangxi Provincial Government Scholarship is divided into three categories: Type A Scholarship, 25000RMB for each person per year, used to sponsor international students studying for doctoral and master degrees; Type B Scholarship, 20000RMB for each student per year, used to sponsor international students for bachelor’s degree and Type C Scholarship, 6000RMB, used to fund visiting scholars or other foreign students who will study in the university for at least half a year. The scholarship is used for students to pay for registration fee, tuition fee, accommodation fee, fee for basic learning materials, fee for internship; and to buy Comprehensive Medical Insurance and Protection Scheme. So when the students in university get the scholarship, the money will be used to pay for all the fees for the next academic year.

Selection Criteria: The university will form an assessment group to assess all the applications publicly, fairly and justly and release the final applicants on the bulletin board to accept the supervision by the public. After that without much complaint we will submit the name list of scholarship students to the Provincial Education Administration for the final approval.

-Write a Study Plan in China (for freshmen).

2014-2015 NITDA Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme

2014 Master Scholarships at the University of Tartu in Estonia

2014 MRC TEG Training Fellowship Scheme in Medical Statistics

Medical Research CouncilUK Medical Research Council (MRC) is offering training fellowship to undertake two years MSc training in Medical Statistics. For the first year the successful applicant will study for the MSc degree in Medical Statistics at the London School of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (LSHTM). This will be followed by a one-year professional attachment at one of the African centres associated with the research programme of the Tropical Epidemiology Group (TEG) at LSHTM. Applicants must be resident in and a national of a country in sub-Saharan Africa. Application should be submitted till 30th April 2014.

About Scholarship: This fellowship, which is funded by the UK Medical Research Council (MRC), provides support for two years training in medical statistics. For the first year the successful applicant will study for the MSc degree in Medical Statistics at the London School of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (LSHTM). This will be followed by a one-year professional attachment at one of the African centres associated with the research programme of the Tropical Epidemiology Group (TEG) at LSHTM. During the professional attachment, Training Fellows will develop their statistical and research skills by working on studies with guidance from TEG staff.

Study: Fellowship is awarded in medical statistics.
Course Level: Fellowship is available to undertake MSc training at LSHTM followed by a year working as a statistician at one of partner centres in Africa.

-be in possession of an excellent first degree with a background in mathematics, statistics or a related subject;
-have at least 1 year of work experience in medical statistics or epidemiology.
