2014 UNESCO-China Fellowships for Developing Countries

UNESCO ScholarshipGovernment of the People’s Republic of China has placed at the disposal of UNESCO for the academic year 2014-2015, under the co-sponsorship of UNESCO, twenty five (25) fellowships for advanced studies at Undergraduate and Postgraduate Levels.

These fellowships are for the benefit of developing Member States in Africa, Asia -Pacific and certain countries in the Arab States. The fellowships, tenable at a selected number of Chinese universities, are of one year duration.

These fellowships, which are in most cases to be conducted in English, are offered to senior advanced students wishing to pursue higher studies or intending to undertake individual research with periodic guidance from the assigned supervisor. In exceptional cases, candidates may be required to study the Chinese language before taking up research/study in their fields of interest.

Worth of Award
Facilities offered by the Goverenment of the People’s Republic of China:

  • A monthly living allowance of CNY 1,700 Yuan for general scholars or CNY 2.000 Yuan for senior scholars will be granted covering meals and pocket expenses;
  • A one-time settlement subsidy of CNY 1,000 Yuan will be granted to those who will study in China less than one academic year, and CNY 1,500 Yuan to those who will study in China for one academic year and above, upon their arrival in China;
  • Registration and tuition fees, fee for laboratory experiment, fee for internship, fee for basic/necessary learning materials
  • Accommodation facilities (one dormitory room for two students)
  • Fee for outpatient medical service for expenses generated in the institution’s hospital
  • Comprehensive Medical Insurance and Protection Scheme for International Students in China against hospitalizing for serious diseases and accidental injuries
  • A one-time inter-city travel ticket (each for coming in and leaving China).
  • A hard – seat train ticket (hard-berth train ticket for overnight trip) will be provided for new scholarship students traveling from the port of entry upon registration to the city where the admitting institution of Chinese language institution or preparatory education institution is located; students traveling from the Chinese language institution or preparatory education institution to the city where the university for major study is located; and students traveling from the city where the institution is located to the nearest port of departure upon graduation.

  • International Travel to and from China; and
  • Monthly allowance of US $150 to be paid in local currency (Chinese RMB) during their stay in China, in addition to the living allowance granted by the Government of the People’s Republic of China.

Eligibility
Applicants must Hold:

  • Hold at least the equivalent of the Master’s Degree/above or the Bachelor’s Degree
  • English proficiency is required;
  • Be not more than 45 years of age; and
  • Be in good health

How to Apply:

  • All applications should be endorsed by the relevant Government body (the National Commission or Permanent Delegation) and must be made in English with the following attachments:
  • Application form for UNESCO/China (The Great Wall) Fellowship in triplicate
  • 3 photographs
  • Notarized photocopies of diplomas and certificates, and school-certified transcripts of complete academic records (translated in English when applicable), in triplicate
  • Copy of the university’s invitation letter, for those students who have been admitted in advance by a Chinese university, in triplicate
  • Two letters of recommendation (in English) by professors or associate professors familiar with the work of the candidate, in triplicate
  • A study or research proposal containing no less than 400 words (in English) of the Post-Graduate Study to be undertaken during the candidate’s stay in China, in triplicate
  • Foreigner Physical Examination form to be completed and communicated to UNESCO in triplicate; and
  • English language proficiency certificate, in triplicate.

2014 Italian Government Scholarships for International Students

Scholarships for International StudentsItalian Government invites applications for the 2014 Undergraduate and Postgraduate which is awarded to foreign citizens and Italian Citizens resident abroad (IRE) Studying in Italy.

Scholarships can be awarded only for study/ research projects at institutions within the Italian public education and research system (state universities and research centres or legally accredited private institutions). It is NOT possible to apply for study/ research projects at foreign Institutions (such as universities, libraries, schools and the like) even if they operate in Italy.

Eligibility:

  • Candidates must have got an academic qualification allowing them, in their country, to register for the same level university course they are applying for in Italy.
  • The relevant certification must be provided in due time, jointly with a Dichiarazione di valore, that is a document issued by the relevant Italian Embassy or Consulate assessing what a given school or academic degree is worth of in Italian terms of reference.
  • Generally, for an undergraduate course a high school degree is required; for a Postgraduate Course a BA or equivalent is needed.
  • At the end of the course attended the scholarship-holder will have to sit the required exams.
  • Advanced vocational training, art and music courses
  • Candidates must have got an academic qualification allowing them, in their country, to register for the same level course they are applying for in Italy
  • The relevant certification must be provided in due time, jointly with a Dichiarazione di valore , that is a document issued by the relevant Italian Embassy or Consulate assessing what a given school or academic degree is worth of in Italian terms of Bando inglese Reference.
  • A letter of pre-acceptance from the chosen Italian institution is recommended. The programme must be at least of six months. At the end of the course attended the scholarship-holder will have to sit the required exams

Master’s Degree Courses (Levels I or II):

  • Candidates must have got an academic qualification allowing them, in their country, to register for the same level course they are applying for in Italy. The relevant certification must be provided in due time, jointly with a Dichiarazione di va lore, that is a document issued by the relevant Italian Embassy or Consulate assessing what a given school or academic degree is worth of in Italian terms of reference.
  • The programme must be at least of six months. There is no exemption from Masters enrolment fees. If the course requires a period of study outside of Italy, the payment of the scholarship will be suspended during that period.
  • Given that admittance to Masters Courses is often on a selection basis, and courses require a minimum number of participants to be held, it is the applicants’ responsibility to be informed about their admittance to the course and its actual starting date.
  • The period of study covered by the scholarships must be completed by December 31st 2015

General Eligibility Criteria:
• First class Master degree or equivalent University degree if applying for PhD studies/research or a First Class Doctoral Degree if applying for a Postdoctoral research.
• For PhD studies/research, the candidate should not be more than 35 years old at the moment of the application. For postdoctoral research, there should not be a gap of more than 5 years between the award of the PhD and the application deadline.
• Applicants should be residing in their home country at the moment of the application. Applicants who are in Switzerland since more than 1 year are not eligible
• Applicants must provide a letter (e-mail) from a Professor from the Swiss host institution stating that he/she is willing to supervise the Research, PhD, or the Postdoctoral Reasearch. For PhD studies, applicants must apply to the chosen Swiss University as well as for the scholarship.
• Applicants must have a research proposal including a timeframe (this is the central piece of the application. The applicant must devote all required attention to it)
• Applicants must be in command of the necessary language skills required for the Research, PhD Studies or the Postdoctoral research.

China Three Gorges University International Student Scholarship in China, 2014

China Three Gorges UniversityDescription: CTGU International Student Scholarship is established by CTGU, with a goal of encouraging more international students to study in CTGU. This scholarship is open to the applicants of CTGU’s new English-medium programs to international students each year. In 2013, this scholarship is open to Bsc. in Civil Engineering program, Electrical Engineering and Automation program and BBA program in English medium.

Eligibility:-Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with foreign passport and friendly to China.
-Applicants should be in good character, hard studying, with excellent academic records and in good health.
-Applicants of Undergraduate Scholarship are required, at least, to have an educational diploma equivalent to Chinese senior middle school education, aged 25 or younger.
-The requirement of Chinese language proficiency is according to the applied field and the language medium of teaching.
