Estonian School of Diplomacy is offering training scholarships for nine-month training program ’International Relations and European Integration’ for 2014/15 academic year. Scholarships are open for the applicants of Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Montenegro, Moldova, Tajikistan and Ukraine. The scholarship covers the following expenses related to the participation in the training course: tuition fee in full amount, costs of visa/residence permit, costs of local health insurance, costs of accommodation in Tallinn and provides a monthly allowance to cover everyday living expenses during the study period.

-is highly motivated to learn about international relations and related disciplines. Priority will be given for the candidates strongly motivated to continue their professional careers within the field of IR/foreign policy/diplomacy;
-is hard working, co-operative and ready for cross-cultural study environment.

2014 TWAS-DBT Postgraduate Fellowship Programme in Biotechnology, India

Department of BiotechnologyApplications are invited for TWAS-DBT Postgraduate Fellowship Programme available for foreign scholars from developing country other than India to pursue research towards a PhD. Fellowships are tenable at key biotechnology research institutions in India for a period of up to five years. DBT will provide a monthly stipend to cover for living costs, food and health insurance. The monthly stipend will not be convertible into foreign currency. In addition, the fellowship holder will receive a house rent allowance. The application deadline is 31st August 2014.

About Scholarship: The Department of Biotechnology (DBT) of the Ministry of Science and Technology in India, and TWAS have established a fellowship programme for foreign scholars from developing countries who wish to pursue research towards a PhD and postdoctoral research in biotechnology.

Study: Fellowships are awarded in the field of biotechnology (Agricultural Sciences, Structural, Cell and Molecular Biology, Biological Systems and Organisms, Medical and Health Sciences incl. Neurosciences and Chemical Sciences).

2015-2016 Fulbright Singapore Student Program for Graduate Studies in USA

Fulbright scholarship

Applications are invited for Fulbright grants available for Singaporean citizens to study in the United States. For the 2015-16 academic year, only a limited number of partial grants will be available (depending on funding availability). The award includes economy return airfare on an American carrier. These grants are intended for a one-year master’s degree program or the first year of study for a master’s program for individuals. The application deadline is April 30, 2014.

About Scholarship: The program operates on the principles of autonomy and open competition based on individual merit, without regard to the individual’s institutional affiliation, race, color or creed. The objective of the grant is to enable the recipient to pursue a particular field of study and to develop leaders who can contribute to promoting better understanding between the United States and Singapore. The program encourages grantees to participate and engage in non-academic activities within the community in which they are pursuing their studies. Upon returning to Singapore, Fulbrighters are expected to continue their role in building bridges of understanding, directly or indirectly, between the two countries through their professional and personal activities.

Study: Priority will be given to the social sciences and humanities as they relate to the United States and Singapore. Within the natural and applied sciences, only policy-oriented proposals related to subjects in Theme 2 will be considered: The United States, Challenges of Contemporary Society, International Relations and Education.

Eligibility: These grants are intended for a one-year master’s degree program or the first year of study for a master’s program for individuals who meet the following criteria:
-Citizenship – Applicants must be Singapore citizens.
-Leadership potential with exceptional promise and demonstrated involvement in community outreach.
-Evidence of motivation and commitment to graduate study.
-Outstanding academic records and preparation in the chosen field.
-High level of English verbal and written fluency.
-Good health – While no written report is required to apply, a candidate is required to submit a health report and obtain medical clearance before becoming a grantee.
-Three years minimum of work experience.
-Applicants between 25 – 35 years of age at the time of application preferred.
-Preference is given to those with little or no U.S. experience.
-Individuals who are not eligible for a Fulbright grant: Individuals who are currently studying, researching or lecturing at American universities. Individuals who intend to pursue an internship, residency or research at a U.S. school of medicine or dentistry. Individuals who are currently living or working in the United States, or who have had extensive recent experience in the United States.

Scholarship Open for: Citizens of Singapore can apply for these Fulbright grants.

-February 2015 – Notification of candidacy by Fulbright Scholarship Board, Washington D.C.
-March/April 2015 – University responses
-August 2015 – Departure for the United States.

The applicant will be expected to have completed a Bachelor’s or Masters degree with academic distinction equivalent to a First Class Honours degree at a New Zealand University. Four scholarships per year to PhD applicants from Singapore and Brunei (two awards are made to Brunei and two to Singapore) will be awarded. Scholarship will be held for up to three years. The application deadline is 1 July 2014.

Eligibility:
-Successful applicants should have an outstanding academic track record in a relevant discipline. The applicant will be expected to have completed a Bachelor’s or Masters degree with academic distinction equivalent to a First Class Honours degree at a New Zealand University. Applicants are requested to clearly indicate their area of research interest and to include a brief summary of their suggested research and methodology with their application.
-Students whose first language is not English are required to meet the English language proficiency requirements for postgraduate study at Victoria University. Victoria’s English language requirements are strict and not negotiable. If your first language is not English, you must provide evidence of your English proficiency before you will be accepted as a PhD candidate. Requirements are:
-TOEFL 575 with (preferably) a TWE of 5, or 237 on the computer-based test; or 90 on the internet-based test with a minimum of 20 in writing; or
-IELTS overall band of 6.5, no sub-score below 6; or
-CAE grade B; or
-a minimum of two ratings of 5 and two ratings of 4 in the Victoria University English Proficiency Programme test.

Scholarship Open for: Students of Singapore and Brunei can apply for these ASEAN scholarships.

Number of awards: Victoria offers four scholarships per year to PhD applicants from Singapore and Brunei (two awards are made to Brunei and two to Singapore).

Duration: Four doctoral ASEAN scholarships will be available in each of the calendar years 2012, 2013 and 2014. The Scholarship will be held for up to three years.

Value: Scholarships include $23,500 stipend annually plus tuition fees for three years.

Selection Criteria: The following factors will be taken into consideration:
-These scholarships will be targeted at younger researchers who have the capacity to contribute to the development of their countries and the ASEAN region.
-Priority will be given to topics that relate to regional integration and sustainable development.

2014 Abraham Lincoln Incentive Grants in USA

AMIDEAST is awarding Abraham Lincoln Incentive Grants to promising, academically qualified but economically challenged students who will be in grade eleven in the academic year 2014/2015. To be eligible for these grants, applicant must be a Palestinian resident of the West Bank, Jerusalem, or Gaza and must be unable to cover the costs of preparing for and applying to US colleges/universities. The application deadline is April 28, 2014.

About Scholarship: AMIDEAST is now accepting applications for the Abraham Lincoln Incentive Grants Program, funded by the United States Department of State through the Middle East Partnership Initiative and the American Consulate General in Jerusalem. The program will provide grants (financial assistance) to promising, academically qualified but economically challenged students who will be in grade eleven in the academic year 2014/2015 from both Gaza and the West Bank, to assist them in competing more successfully for scholarships to pursue their undergraduate studies in the United States. This program is not a scholarship to study in the United States and does not guarantee U.S. college admission or a scholarship. However, this program does provide direct assistance to students who may be qualified for future study in the United States but would otherwise not be able to consider this because of the high cost of preparation courses, testing, application fees, etc.

-Hold an A average overall and A in English in 9th and 10th grade.
-Currently grade 10 in the academic year 2013/2014.
-Have excellent attendance records.
-Receive an excellent teacher evaluation score.
-Submit AMIDEAST English Language Placement Test (35 NIS) results, level 7 minimum, or SLEP test results, 50 score minimum, or TOEFL Jr. results, 700 score minimum, if taken within the last 3 months.

Scholarship Open for: Palestinian resident of the West Bank, Jerusalem, or Gaza can apply for these Incentive grants.

Value: AMIDEAST will provide students with the following range of educational advising, test preparation and testing services:
-Advising sessions on undergraduate study in the U.S. and the application process
-College Application & Essay Writing Workshop
-Test Preparation Courses for iBT TOEFL and SAT I, in addition to Online Practice Tests for iBT-TOEFL and SAT I
-Travel subsidies in the form of partial or full reimbursement of the cost of local transportation incurred in order to attend sessions, take courses, sit for tests, etc.
-Payment of application fees at up to six U.S. colleges or universities.
