Selection Criteria: The Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of the initial letter with CV and cover letter, NanoCore will shortlist students and conduct interviews, in person or via Skype.

Notification: Applicants will be informed about the outcome of the interview process by 1st November 2013. Successful applicants will be informed that NanoCore will commit a NanoCore scholarship to support the applicant’s PhD studies.

Deadline: The application deadline is 10th October 2013 for the August 2014 intake.

2013-2014 Commonwealth PhD Scholarship at NUS, SingaporeThe National University of Singapore invites applications for its 2013/2014 Commonwealth Scholarship for citizens of Commonwealth countries. The Commonwealth Scholarship is awarded to talented students with an aptitude for innovative, high calibre PhD Research.

Worth of Scholarship

  • Monthly stipend of S$3,200 up to 4 years of the PhD studies, or up to date of graduation, whichever is earlier.
  • Other allowances including
    • computer allowance
    • book allowance
    • conference allowance.
  • Student must commit to PhD from the outset, cannot exit with MSc.

Note: The terms for the NGS Scholarship are being reviewed. Revised terms of the Scholarship will be implemented from the January 2013 intake onwards.

Eligibility

  • All students from any Commonwealth countries and meet the NGS requirements are eligible to apply.
  • Graduates with a passion for research.
  • Graduates with at least 2nd Upper Honours, or equivalent qualifications.
  • GRE is compulsory for students applying from overseas. Only strongly recommended for graduates from local institutions, e.g. NUS or NTU.
  • TOEFL is compulsory (ONLY applicable for applicants whose native tongue or medium of undergraduate instruction is not in English).

Condition

  • Students are not eligible for the President’s Graduate Fellowship (PGF).
  • Award is renewable, subject to satisfactory academic performance of CAP ? 3.8 at the end of every semester.

2013-2014 National University of Singapore Global Merit Undergraduate Scholarships in SingaporeDescription: The NUS Global Merit Undergraduate Scholarships in Singapore  are highly coveted scholarships awarded to high caliber individuals who demonstrate academic excellence, present excellent co-curricular activities records and exhibit outstanding leadership qualities. NUS Scholars are expected to contribute significantly to the NUS community while in NUS, and to emerge as dynamic global leaders who are capable of effecting a positive change to society after they graduate.

Eligibility: Applicants for the NUS Global Merit Scholarship must:
-be Singapore citizens;
-have strong leadership qualities and potential;
-have a good co-curricular activities record, and
-have offered GCE ‘A’ levels, Diploma from a polytechnic in Singapore or equivalent qualifications (e.g. International Baccalaureate ).

What does it cover? The NUS Global Merit Scholarship covers:
-Full subsidy for annual tuition for his/her course of study.
-A living and book allowance of $6,000.
-Full subsidy for staying in a double occupancy room in an NUS Hall of Residence or an accommodation allowance equivalent to the rate for such a room, whichever is applicable.
-A one-time computer allowance of $2,000 upon enrolment.
-The University provides for the most economic form of 2 way airfare and accommodation during the Student Exchange Programme or NUS Overseas Colleges Programme
-Recipients of the scholarship have the option to enrol in the university scholars programme or the university town residential programme
-The NUS Scholar Enrichment Grant will sponsor scholars to participate in local and/or overseas enrichment programmes and activities such as conferences, courses, seminars and workshops that do not form compulsory part(s) of each scholar’s academic programme.  E.g. International Youth Leadership Conference.

Selection Criteria: Scholarships are awarded on the basis of competition among eligible candidates. Leadership, co-curricular records and other capabilities will be assessed during the interview.

Notification: All shortlisted candidates will be informed of the results of their interviews by end July.

Deadline: Scholarships for academic year 2013-2014 commences from 1 February 2013 to 1 April 2013.
