The DAAD is offering two master’s scholarships in International Economy and Business at Andrássy University Budapest in Hungary. Foreign students of non-EU countries are eligible for this scholarship. The duration of the scholarship is 12 months that can be extended into 24 months. The scholarship covers tuition fees and travel expenses. 

About Scholarship: The scholarships provide foreign graduates from non-EU countries the opportunity to complete a master’s program at the AUB. 

Study: This scholarship is provided to study Master of International Economy and Business (International Economics and Business Administration), Master in “International Relations specializing in European Studies” , Master in “History with a specialization in Central Europe”, Master in “Central European Studies”  LL.M.: Comparative Law and Political Science with specialization in “International Business Law: Focus on Central Europe “or” International and European Management ” and Master in “European and International Management” (first postmaster) .

Number of award: Two

Duration: Scholarships award amounts depending on the length of the chosen degree course or Study project, 12 to 24 months. Initially, scholarships are for a given academic year and have performed well according to the duration of the study program extended on request. 

Value: The DAAD pays a monthly scholarship rate of 400 € available. Also includes the stipend for travel and expenses in the amount of 400, – €, as well as a grant to the Tuition fee of 322, – € per semester. The payment of grants services performed by the management of AUB. 

Selection Criteria: The most important selection criterion is in addition to their academic achievements, a convincing Account of his professional and personal reasons for the planned study project at the AUB.

Scholarship Description: The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) supports a range of postgraduate courses at German Universities which aim at providing academically educated young professionals from developing countries with further specialized studies.

These degree courses, which consist of one to two years of concentrated study, provide academically-trained young professionals in leading positions from developing countries with the opportunity to engage in postgraduate education and training in their particular field or profession.

Eligibility: You should note that several conditions apply. However, the typical scholarship holder:

  • Will come either from a public authority or a state or private company in a developing country and, as such, be engaged in the planning and execution of directives and projects with emphasis on development policies having a bearing on technological, economic or social areas
  • Holds a bachelor’s degree (four years) in related subject
  • Will have completed an academic degree with grades far beyond average and at least two years of related professional experience
  • Is not older than 36 years (for some courses the age limit is 32), respectively his/her academic degrees should normally not be older than six years. Concerning a possible age limit, please refer to the course details on the official website

Please note that For courses in English: IELTS (band 6) certificate or TOEFL (minimum score: 550 paper based, 213 computer based, 80 internet based) is required.

Scholarship benefits: DAAD Scholarship supports selected programmes with a variety of full or partial scholarships.

Methods of Application: If you have no private financial resources or cannot obtain a scholarship from your government, company or an international organisation, you may apply for a DAAD scholarship – either full or partial. DAAD application forms are available from the German embassies or from the DAAD offices abroad or directly at the University or Fachhochschule.

All applicants must submit the complete set of required documents (as stated on this page) including the DAAD application form (*.pdf) and a hand-signed CV before the deadlines. Some courses may require additional documents. For such courses, the applicant needs to follow separate specific application requirements and instructions (if any).

2013-2014 UNILEAD Programme at University of Oldenburg, Germany

Applications are invited for 2013/2014 DAAD scholarship for UNILEAD programme sponsored by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg in Germany. This is a Higher Education Management Training Course open for international students. The funds are available to cover travel costs, course costs and accommodation cost. 

About Scholarship: The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg in Germany are jointly organizing an intensive Higher Education Management Training Course (UNILEAD) in Oldenburg, bringing together the topics Project Management, Management of Financial Resources and Management of Human Resources with individual and practice-oriented change projects of each participant. In 2008 the University of Oldenburg developed the programme together with the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (South Africa) and the DAAD. UNILEAD is part of the DIES programme (Dialogue on Innovative Higher Education Strategies), which has been jointly coordinated by the DAAD and HRK (German Rectors’ Conference) since 2001. 

Study: The course covers topics with relevance to Higher Education Management in the following three areas:

1st module: Project Management

2nd module: Management of Financial Resources

3rd module: Management of Human Resources.

Scholarship By: The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg in Germany are jointly organizing an intensive Higher Education Management Training Course (UNILEAD)

Scholarship By: The programme takes place at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg, Germany 

Eligibility: The two key criteria are:

-Participants have been holding a university management position with managerial and personnel responsibilities for at least two years in one of the following fields:

-Managers of central university departments (Planning, Evaluation, Financing, Human Resources, Continuing Education, International Offices, Technology Transfer etc.).

-Task force managers for university reform projects.

-Managers of staff development units or programmes.

-Active and excellent English language skills (speaking and writing) are indispensable.

Further criteria are:

-Participants are young university leaders aged between 30 and 40 years.

-They hold at least a Master’s degree.

-The provision of international experience will be an asset.

-Being a DAAD alumni will be considered an asset, but is by no means compulsory. 

Scholarship Open for: Participants from higher education institutions of the following regions are eligible to apply:

South East Asia: Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam

Sub-Saharan Africa: Burundi, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda

Duration:

1st phase: 10 weeks online phase (July-September)

2nd phase: 3 weeks contact phase in Germany (September)

3rd phase: 15-18 weeks online phase (October-February)

4th phase: 2 weeks contact phase in Germany (February) 

Value: The costs for this training course will be mainly covered by funds of the DAAD provided by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). During the visit the participants will be guests of the University of Oldenburg. Following expenses will be covered:

-Travel costs: Flight to and from Germany and ground travel to and from Oldenburg. They kindly ask the participants to make their own travel arrangement – they will then be reimbursed in cash upon arrival in Oldenburg.

-Course costs: 5.500 €.

-Accommodation and joint meals at the two contact phases in Germany.

-Partial allowance for subsistence costs during the contact phases in Germany (according to DAAD regulations).

-Emergency health insurance during the contact phases.

Expected co-funding: Participants’ home institutions are expected to cover local transportation in their home countries, visa costs and possible additional per diems for the stay in Germany. Furthermore, they are expected to contribute to the costs by paying a one-time fee of 300,00 €. 

Notification: The Selection Committee composed of high profile Higher Education Management experts and staff of DAAD meets at the end of May 2013. The selected candidates will be informed by end of June 2013 of the results of the selection meeting.

Letter of recommendation from university top management where the managerial qualifications and leadership competencies and the future potential of the candidate are briefly described (pdf-file).

An additional letter of recommendation from a DAAD foreign branch office or DAAD Information Centre will be an asset (pdf-file).

Proof of excellent English proficiency (e.g. TOEFL, Cambridge Certificate) will be an asset. Phone interviews will be organised with short listed candidates to guarantee the requested proficiency (pdf-file).

2013-2014 DAAD Summer Courses Scholarships, Germany

DAAD Scholarships for Foreign and Graduate Students are offered by German Academic Exchange Service to Study Language and Area Studies Courses at German Universities 2013-2014 

About Scholarship: These grants are awarded to enable students and graduates to attend German language and area studies courses plus special language/terminology courses that are offered by state (public) or state-recognised German higher education institutions and by affiliated language schools. 

Study Subjects: Learn language and area studies courses plus special language/terminology courses that are offered by state (public) or state-recognised German higher education institutions and by affiliated language schools.

Course Level: Graduate

Scholarship By: German Academic Exchange Service

Location: Germany 

Eligibility:

-Applications are open to students in Bachelor‘s and Master‘s programmes of all subject areas who will have completed at least two academic years of studies at the time of starting their funded stay.

-Students in their last year of a Bachelor‘s programme are entitled to apply if a Master‘s programme will follow directly after the Bachelor‘s degree. Please include the letter of confirmation by the higher education institution as proof.

-Neither graduates holding a Master‘s degree nor PhD students are eligible for application to this programme.

-At the time of starting the funded stay, applicants must be registered or matriculated at a university in their home country or in their country of permanent residence (but not Germany).

-Applicants must be able to follow lectures and presentations and to collaborate in teams. The German required language skills must at least be equivalent to level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and must be proved by a language certificate. The last language certificate should not be older than one year.

-The minimum age at the time of starting the funded stay is 18 years.

-An applicant may only be considered once for a DAAD Intensive Language Course or University Summer Course Grant in any three consecutive years.

-Alternative requirements may apply for some few countries as specified in the “Country Information” section. 

Scholarship Open for International Students: Yes

Tenure of award:

-The grants run for at least 18 days of course with a minimum of 25 hours of teaching per week. Courses are taught in German (language of instruction) and are held in the summer months (from May at the earliest) during the recess period at German universities.

-The grants cannot be extended. 

Value: Total offer is of 650 Euros. 

Other Benefits: Additional aids are:

-a flat-rate course fee allowance of 200 Euros, plus possibly a regionally-graduated flat-rate travel allowance based on country of origin.

- And least developed countries will receive a flat-rate course fee allowance of 375 Euros.
