Two senior research fellowships at the department of Genetics & Plant Breeding are funded by DBT at CCS University, Meerut, India. Applicants must be M.Sc. /M.Sc. (Ag.)/M.Phil. in the area of plant sciences (preferably genetics and plant breeding/plant biotechnology). For senior research fellowship two years experience is required in the field of molecular marker technology for crop improvement is essential and for JRF, applicants with fresh Master’s degree will also be considered.

About Scholarship: The Plant Molecular Biology Laboratory is one of the premier laboratories of Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding at Ch. Charan Singh University, Meerut, in India. It was formed in the beginning of the department through the merger of several small laboratories of the department. 

Study: The scholarship is provided in (1) “Mobilizing QTL/Genes for Quality Traits into High Yielding Wheat Varieties Through Marker-Assisted Selection” (on-going project, up to August 31, 2014) (2) “Cloning and Characterization of Genes Expressed in Response to Leaf Rust Infection in Bread Wheat”

-Candidate should be M.Sc./M.Sc. (Ag.)/M.Phil. in the area of Plant Sciences (preferably Genetics and Plant Breeding/Plant Biotechnology).

-For the posts of SRF, two years research experience in the field of molecular marker technology for crop improvement is essential (for JRF, candidates with fresh Master’s degree will also be considered);

-Candidates who have qualified NET will be preferred. 

Scholarship Open for: The students of India can apply for this scholarship. 

Number of awards offered: Two SRFs are offered. Applications are invited for the posts of two SRFs, one each for the following two DBT funded research projects. If suitable candidates for the posts of SRF are not available, JRF may be appointed for either one or both the projects.
